After the amazing series Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans It was time for another take on superheroes. A fresh one, enter Legion of Supeheroes. The big difference in this series than the others it takes place 1000 years in the future.

Warner Archive has been bringing us the superhero fans the Justice League Unlimited series on Blu-ray you can read our review of that release here. And the epic complete Teen Titans series on Blu-ray, read that review here. Now it's time for Legion of Superheroes to get it's chance to shine on Blu-ray.

The series follows a group of heroes called 'The Legion of Superheroes'
from the 31st century who travel back to the early 21st century in order to find Superman for help of against powerful group of super-villains in their era. What could go wrong! Well, they traveled too far back and instead of finding Superman they find a young Clark Kent who hasn't assumed his Superman identity as of yet.

The Legion take young Clark to their future, as Clark fights beside the Legion consisting of Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brianiac 5 and Bouncing Boy, Clark embraces his
destiny and helps the Legion fight evil after he finds out he can return home to the moment he left.

The Legion of Superheroes sadly only lasted two seasons. While this show may not be as strong of a show as Justice League Unlimited or Teen Titans. It is still an amazing action-packed, fun-filled ride.

The series had 13 episodes per season for a total of 26 action packed episodes. Warner Archive has spread these episodes over three Blu-ray discs.

Disc One: Man of Tomorrow / Timber Wolf / Legacy / Phantoms / Champions / Fear Factory / Brain Drain / Lightning Storm

Disc Two: The Substitutes / Child's Play / Chain of Command / Sundown, Part 1 / Sundown, Part 2 / The Man from the Edge of Tomorrow, Part 1 / The Man from the Edge of Tomorrow, Part 2 / Cry Wolf / Chained Lightning

Disc Three: Karate Kid / Who Am I? / Unnatural Alliances / Message in a Bottle / In the Beginning /  Trials / In Your Dreams / Dark Victory, Part 1 / Dark Victory, Part 2

These episode are presented in their original 1.78:1 aspect ratio and in
5.1 DTS-HD MA audio. Now Warner Archive could have squeezed all 13 season 1 episodes on one disc and all 13 season 2 episodes on another disc. But Warner Archive instead opted to spread these 26 episodes over 3 discs. Giving these episodes the room for the best quality and it shows. These episodes truly look stunning on Blu-ray.

While having both seasons on Blu-ray is enough to make this a must have for me. I am pleased to say Warner Archive gave us some bonus features. There is a 9 minute featurette entitled, "We are Legion" that focuses on the Legion from comics to the show. There is also an awesome commentary track on episodes “Dark Victory Parts 1 and 2”. On this track DW Ferranti, Matt Patterson, Kari Wahlgren, James Tucker, and Brandon Vietti discuss creative choices and behind-the-scenes stories.

Warner Archive has done it again bringing us a superhero set that is a must have for anyone's Blu-ray collection. This set looks great alongside the Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans Blu-ray sets.

I can not recommend this Blu-ray enough it is really worth the upgrade. But for those that have season one on DVD and would like to complete that set. Season 2 is now available on DVD through Warner Archive as well. Get a copy of the Blu-ray at Amazon.com
