So now there has been a huge push lately to release these martial arts classics on Blu-ray. So many companies are jumping on the bandwagon and restoring and releasing these films on Blu-ray. Well, one such company is the ever-popular Visual Vengeance. They are releasing a deluxe Blu-ray of 1977's Fatal Flying Guillotine.
Synopsis: Deep in the forbidding Valley of No Return, a reclusive master, driven to madness by his own obsessive training, perfects a nightmarish weapon - the 'Lightning Strike,' a savage evolution of the flying guillotine with twin, whirling blades designed for maximum carnage. Any intruder who dares cross into his domain faces instant decapitation with ruthless precision. But when a vengeance-driven fighter (Carter Wong) sets his sights on the valley, seeking justice for his mother's death, he must confront both the master's deadly invention and the head-chopping chaos it leaves in its wake.
Fatal Flying Guillotine is not the first of the 'guillotine' movies, but for me it was the most terrifying. The first two films were The Shaw Brothers’ Flying Guillotine and Jimmy Wang Yu’s Master of the Flying Guillotine. But they can not compare to the weapon in this film. It is something out of a nightmare.
Visual Vengeance has transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio tracks to choose from: a Dolby Digital 2.0 in both English and Mandarin. There are also English subtitles.
This transfer is not just any transfer. This Blu-ray transfer is taken from a brand new 2K restoration from original film elements supervised and composited by film archivist Toby Russell. Toby Russell has restored this film to the most complete version of this film ever released. And it looks pretty impressive too.

Visual Vengeance never ceases to amaze me with the quality of their releases. They put so much work into making every release something extremely special and this one is no different. Not only are there all the cool on-disc bonus features, but the mini-poster, booklet, lobby cards (really cool) and the VHS stickers. Just awesome!
