Teen Titans The Complete Series {Warner Archive Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

The young heroes of DC Comics jumped from the comic book page to the TV Screen on Cartoon Network on July 19, 2003. Originally set for a 4 season set. The popularity of the series caused Cartoon Network to given producers a fifth season and a TV Movie finale.

The good folks at Warner Archive have been going above and beyond bring movie and TV collectors amazing releases to add to the collection. Now Teen Titans the Complete series has got an amazing upgrade and has received a Blu-ray release.

The series follows a group of teenage superheroes led by Robin and include; Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy. These 5 heroes fight against the evil of
Brother Blood, Mad Mod and their archenemy Slade.

While there was a lot of comedic things in this series that helped keep things light. There was still a lot of serious storylines! Re-watching this series again after all these years I can totally remember why I loved this one so much! The animated and the stories still hold up almost 20 years later.

I remember seeing this series on Cartoon Network and being entranced by the animation and hooked by the theme song. Many people probably remember the theme song more than the series itself. The theme was
created by Andy Sturmer and performed by the Japanese band Puffy AmiYumi. Who didn't find themselves singing that all day long?

This 6 disc Blu-ray set includes all 5 Seasons and the Made for TV Movie Finale. Making this the true Complete Series Set. You don't have to look anywhere else for anything else. This set is truly complete! That is awesome.

Disc 1: (Season 1) Final Exam / Sisters / Divide and Conquer / Forces of Nature / The Sum of His Parts / Nevermore / Switched / Deep Six / Masks / Mad Mod / Apprentice 1 & 2 / Car Trouble

Disc 2: (Season 2) How long is forever? / Every Dog has his day / Terra / Only Human / Fear Itself / Date with Destiny / Transformation / Titan Rising / Winner takes All / Betrayal / Fractured / Aftershock 1 & 2

Now as amazing as it is to see all this Teen Titans goodness in this 6 Disc set. They didn't stop there. They loaded this set with special features as well, including; featurettes, Finding their voices: The Making of Teen Titans, Comic Creations: From Comic book to Cartoon, Puffy AniYumi featurette, Catching up with..... Teen Titans, Teen Titans: Know your Foe, Teen Titans: Friends of Foes, The "Lost" Episode and so much more.

The episodes have been transferred in 1080p in their original widescreen format 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The Audio is in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 with an option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. These episodes look and sound amazing on Blu-ray. I can not put into words how awesome it is to see these episodes again and hear that theme song again.

Between the stellar transfer and the fact that this not only includes all five seasons but the made for tv movie finale this truly is a no brainer addition for any superhero animation fan. I can not recommend this set enough. Head over to WBShop.com and get your copy today. It is so worth it.
