Justice League Unlimited The Complete Series {Warner Archive Blu-ray review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

The DC Animated universe debuted with Batman The Animated Series, we then got Superman The Animated Series. After those successes, we got New Adventures of Batman, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, The Zeta Project, and these shows led to The Justice League.

Justice League is a many of the superheroes from around the world and universe that came together to fight to make the world and universe a safer place. The Justice League cartoon series debuted on Cartoon Network in 2001and ran for 2 seasons and a total of 52 episodes.

After those two seasons, Justice League was changed to Justice League Unlimited. Bringing countless superheroes together. And exposing audiences to heroes and villains they may have never seen before. Now Warner Archive has released this amazing series on Blu-ray.

The 3 disc Blu-ray set is broken up into season format. Each disc contains a whole 13 episode season. Now you may think that's a lot for one disc but for thirteen 22 minutes episodes on a huge Blu-ray. Not bad at all! Let's take a look at the episodes included.

Disc One: (Season 1)  Initiation / For the Man Who Has Everything / Kids' Stuff / Hawk and Dove / This Little Piggy / Fearful Symmetry / The Greatest Story Never Told / The Return / Ultimatum / Dark Heart / Wake the Dead / The Once and Future Thing, Part One: Weird Western Tales / The Once and Future Thing, Part Two: Time, Warped

Disc Two: (Season 2) The Cat and the Canary / The Ties That Bind / The Doomsday Sanction / Task Force X / The Balance / Double Date / Clash / Hunter's Moon /  Question Authority / Flashpoint / Panic in the Sky / Divided We Fall / Epilogue

Disc 3: (Season 3)  I Am Legion / Shadow of the Hawk / Chaos at the Earth's Core / To Another Shore / Flash and Substance / Dead Reckoning / Patriot Act / The Great Brain Robbery / Grudge Match / Far From Home / Ancient History / Alive! / Destroyer

As amazing as Justice League was and is. Justice League Unlimited was even better. I love these old shows. They were produced for kids, but they didn't talk down to the kids. There was real peril, amazing action, consequences to action. Real lessons learned in these shows.

As for the episode transfer to Blu-ray. The episodes are presented in their original wide-screen format in 1.78:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The transfer is really great! There is no signs of damage. The picture is stunning and the audio is crystal clear.
The heroes look more heroic and villains look more sinister in HD. I am proud to show off this amazing Blu-ray set in my collection.

Now do bonus features; there is 2 audio commentaries by the creators on episodes, This Little Piggie and The Return. Featurettes "And Justice for all" the process of revamping the series. Cadmus Exposed: a panel of creators and Mark Hamill discuss that amazing story arc. And finally, Justice League Chronicles: The series writers, producers, and directors discuss their favorite episodes.

So if you are a fan of the DC Animated Universe. I can not recommend this Blu-ray set enough. It is absolutely amazing and is worth the money! Head over to Amazon and pick up your copy today.
