Primate Blu-ray Review – Terrifying New Creature Feature Delivers Primal Horror

Ever since the film The Planet of the Apes first graced the silver screen audiences have been fascinated by the idea, what if the apes revolted against humans? Could we possibly survive?

This new Paramount Pictures horror feature explores that possibility with the film Primate. Now physical media fans and horror hounds can own this film on Blu-ray and enjoy the bloody horror over and over again.

Synopsis: Lucy’s tropical island homecoming was supposed to be beaches and best friends—not a fight for her life. When her family’s exceptionally clever chimp spirals into a savage rabid frenzy, the night explodes into terrifying chaos. With her father away and no help coming, paradise becomes a prison as Lucy and her friends fight to survive a deadly predator they once trusted.

Primate is a gory thriller. This film could easily become tedious. Running about an hour and a half is a great time frame any more an this film would have outstayed it's welcome. The acting is okay and the CGI is good. This is a nice little horror film, but nothing that will probably become a classic.

Paramount Home Entertainment has transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format. There are three different audio options to choose from. First an English Dolby Atmos, a French Dolby Digital 5.1 and a Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1. There is also the option for subtitles in English, French and Spanish. Finally there is a English audio descriptive track.

The film looks and sounds good. There is no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. So there should be no problems with watching this film. In addition to a nice Blu-ray transfer there are some bonus features included on this disc.

Now, finally this Blu-ray also has the bonus of the digital copy of the film. This is a nice bonus to have. That way if you are out on a trip and what to kill and hour and a half. You can what this gory horror film where ever you have an internet connection.
