The original Scary Movie was panned by critics, but fans of parody films enjoyed this film and thus is spawned 4 sequels, 5 movies in total. Fans of the Scary Movie franchise can rejoice as Paramount Home Entertainment has given Scary Movie the 2026 edition a 4K UltraHD.
Synopsis: Twenty-six years after the original massacre, Cindy, Brenda, Shorty, and Ray get dragged back into the chaos by a brand-new masked killer who clearly never learned when to quit. Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall reunite, alongside returning favorites, for the wildly unhinged return to the franchise’s original roots — where every target is fair game and every line gets crossed.
The Parody genre of films really is a dying genre. There are still some parody films out there, but they really are few and far between, and all of them are less than spectacular releases. And such is the fate of Scary Movie 2026.
The film just doesn't seem to hit the right notes at least for me. There are a lot of derogatory words spewed throughout this film and the jokes just fall flat. The result is a film that this reviewer just didn't enjoy much. But fans of the Wayans films may find it really just the right stuff for a night of fun. So the ultimate choice is up to the viewer.
Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment has transferred Passenger to Blu-ray in 1080p High Definition and is presented in widescreen format. The audio track options are an English Dolby Atmos track, a French and Spanish Dolby Digital track, and finally an English descriptive track. There are subtitles in English and French.
The Blu-ray transfer is crisp and clean. There are no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the flesh tones are correct. This is a really nice Blu-ray transfer.
Now for bonus features! On-disc bonuses include featurettes: Scream Together, Fresh Meat, Wayans World and a Scene Dissection. There is also a digital copy of the film. So this 4K release has the bonus features going for it!
I must admit I do enjoy having a copy in my digital library. This makes it nice; if you are away from your collection and you would like to watch Scary Movie, you can do so as long as you have a good internet connection.
