Legends of the vampire can be tracked back to 1047 with old Russian text, which describes creatures called "upir". but the term "vampire" itself did not appear until 1725. It wasn't until the movies that the vampire has become romanticized.
In 2000 Director Jeffrey Arsenault and Writer Kevin J. Lindenmuth produced a sci-fi horror flick that exploitation films fans will reveal in. Now over 25 years later Visual Vengeance are giving this little known film a chance to live forever on physical media with their deluxe Blu-ray release.
Synopsis: Violet is a vampire with a taste for both men and women. One of her targets is a young man, named Chuck, whom she picks up in a bar, wines him, frightens him and eventually excites him into her bed.
In all honesty the story is a bit thin and the acting isn't spectacular. The film runs under 1 hour. So there is not a lot of padding to try to make this more than what it should be. That's a goo thing. With these kind of releases fans are not watching for spectacular storyline and wonderful special effects. So if you love these kind of films, you'll get a kick out of it.
Visual Vengeance have transferred Date with a Vampire to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in the original full screen format in 1.33:1 aspect ratio. This Blu-ray transfer comes from a new SD master from original tape elements. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Of course while this is an HD transfer if comes from the SD elements. So the quality of this picture is decent, but not amazing. We are used to crystal clarity of HD and UltraHD in this generation so this feels a bit off. But for people who grew up on VHS quality, this is retro. In addition to retro video quality, Visual Vengeance put tons of bonus features on this release. Take a look at what is included.
