AMC is probably best known for The Walking Dead Universe. From the original series to Fear the Walking Dead, The Darryl Dixon series and Dead City. But AMC has also produced many TV series, including the supernatural horror series Mayfair Witches.
Alcorn Media International released these series on Blu-ray. The latest Blu-ray released from Acorn Media is the crime thriller series Dark Winds. Just in time for the premiere of season 4, the first three seasons are now collected on this Blu-ray set.
Synopsis: The year is 1971. Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Tribal Police must solve a series of unrelated crimes. He is joined by his new deputy, Jim Chee. Together, the two men battle the forces of evil and their own personal demons on the path to salvation.
Dark Winds is a wonderfully written mystery series that keeps you guessing all the way through. The acting is top notch lead by Zahn McClamon (Fargo) and Kiowa Gordon (The Red Road). The visuals of this series are simply stunning. Some series, after you watch it, that is it. But this one is so well produced, I definitely believe this is one you would want to revisit again.
The first three seasons have a total of 20 episodes. Season 1 and 2, six episodes each and season 3 is 8 episodes. Each season receives two Blu-ray discs. So this three season Blu-ray is a 6 disc set.
Season 1: Monster Slayer / The Male Rain Approaches / K'e Hooghandi / Ha'íínlni / HózhóoNaasháa
Season 2: Na'niłkaadii (Sheep Dog) / Wonders of the Unknown / Antigonish / The March / Black Hole Sun / Hózhó náhásdlįį (Beauty Is Restored)
Season 3: Ye'iitsoh (Big Monster) / Náá'tsoh (Big Eyes) / Ch'į́į́dii (Ghosts) / Chahałheeł (Darkness Falls) / Tsékǫ̨' Hasą́ní (Coal Mine Canyon) / Ábidoo'niidę́ę́ (What We Had Been Told) / T'áá Áłts'íísígo (Just a Small Piece) / Béésh Łį́į́ (Iron Horse)
Acorn Media has transferred these episodes to Blu-ray in 1080p, and they are presented in widescreen format. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for subtitles in English and Spanish.
The episodes are crisp amd clean with no signs of digital artifacts. The colors are vibrant and really adhance the colors of the Navajo culture used in this series. The audio is clear as a bell with no audio anomolies.
Now in addition to 20 exciting and gorgeous looking episodes. There is a bonus featurette entitled, "Show Me More: Dark Winds". Maybe not as much bonus features as I may have liked, but better than nothing at all.
If you love a good mystery series, I must say Dark Winds really does fit the bill. And for me there is no better way to have the first three seasons than in this Blu-ray that is the side of a regular one disc Blu-ray case, yet has 6 disc in it. So do't be afraid to add this Blu-ray to your home video library today.
