The Mexico Trilogy (1993-2003) Arrow Video Blu-ray/4k Review

Writer and Director Robert Rodriguez is responsible for some really awesome films in cinema. I'm talking about such films as Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, Machete, Planet Terror and the fun family film series Spy Kids.

When Robert Rodriguez was just 23 year old he took off with some friends, $7,000, an idea and a big dream to make a film. That film became a cult classic and spawned two sequels. Tha film was El Mariachi. Now Arrow Video have released "The Mexico Trilogy" on Blu-ray and UltraHD. The choice is yours!

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

El Mariachi (1992)
A traveling mariachi is mistaken for a murderous criminal and must hide from a gang bent on killing him. ***

Desperado (1995)
Former musician and gunslinger El Mariachi arrives at a small Mexican border town after being away for a long time. His past quickly catches up with him and he soon gets entangled with the local drug kingpin Bucho and his gang. ***

Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003)
Hitman "El Mariachi" becomes involved in international espionage involving a psychotic CIA agent and a corrupt Mexican general. ***

There was no denying in the first film that Robert Rodriguez had a great eye from cinema. And it only got better the more films he did. The Mexico Trilogy is a fast paced, fun adventure that you will never forget.

Arrow Video have transferred all three of these film in High Definition (1080p) Blu-ray presentations of all three films. They are presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are the audio options of English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio an English PCM 2.0 and a Spanish 2.0 Dolby Digital. There is also the option for English subtitles. Included is a
4K (2160p) Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) of Desperado.

Arrow Video has done a masterful job with these films. They look crisp and clean with no damage that I could see on these prints. The audio is crystal clear.
