I always enjoyed a good spaghetti western. Films like Django, Sartana, and Good the Bad and the Ugly and Hang 'Em High. Now First Line Films have given the 1964 spaghetti western The Seven From Texas a deluxe Blu-ray release.
Clifford is in a rush to get his wife Maria across the treacherous county... but it is not because of a Indian uprising, the real reason was she is sick! So her former fiancé and recently released from prison Bob and his men escort his old flame and her husband across territory in search of medical care while being pursued by a vengeful rival.
The Seven From Texas is an entertaining spaghetti western. There is nothing special about the story or the acting. They are good, just not anything special! One thing that is missing from this western is the action. Not that there isn't any, it's just not as much as some of the more exciting ones.
The Seven From Texas has been transferred in 1080p featuring a new 2K scan. The audio is a English dubbed Dolby Digital soundtrack. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The new 2K scan is nice, but truth be told it's not perfect. There is some dirt and specks and the colors are a bit faded on the print. But when you think about that this is a spaghetti western from almost 60 years ago. I think it looks pretty remarkable! Especially when you think these were films not produced and stored by big studios. It's amazing to me it looks as good as it does.
But a new 2K scan of The Seven from Texas is not all that First Line Films added to this Deluxe Blu-ray. Not by a longshot. Let's take a look a the amazing extras included in in this 2 disc set.
* A Bonus DVD: 100,000 Dollars For Lassiter - This movie feature is transferred to DVD and it looks okay. But when you see this film in comparison to the new Blu-ray feature. You truly do appreciate the Blu-ray much more.
* Blu-ray Trailers: Seven From Texas, The Implacable Three, 100,000 For Lassiter and The Relentless Four.
DVD trailers:
The Three Musketeers of the West, Billy The Kid, Gatling Gun
* Booklets: A 12-page booklet featuring an essay from 'Ince Upon a Time in the Spanish West's Michael Hauss and an 8-page booklet featuring an essay from Tom Betts entitled 'Seven from Texas (Hour of Death) Film Insights by Tom Betts. Both essays are extremely insightful. Finally a Spanish language booklet as well.

So while the movie transfers may not be stunning, they are not that bad, and the films are pretty entertaining! And after all that is what truly matter when it come to entertainment.
