Well, a few years ago I received the comic collection of holiday stories in comic form. The collection was entitled Christmas Classics and what a collection it was. I have read it many years since first receiving it.
Included in this collection is first a letter written by Mark Twain to his daughter "A Letter from Santa Claus" Now while this is not a comic it is a great way to start this book off! Immediately after this letter we get the greatest (in my humble opinion) Christmas story ever Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol adapted by Alex Burrows and illustrated by Micah Farritor. Than there is A Visit from St. Nicholas illustrated by Florence Cestac and Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective shows up Sherlock Holmes in The Blue Carbuncle, Adapted by Rich Rainey and illustrated by Hunt Emerson.
These along would make a tremendous reading, but the holiday fun doesn't stop there, it continues on. Next we get O. Henry's A Chaparral Christmas Gift illustrated by Cynthia Martin. Next is Willa Cather's The Strategy of the Werewolf dog illustrated by Evert Geradts. F. Scott Fitzgerald's A Luckless Santa Claus illustrated by Simon Gane and finally Fitz-Jamews O'Brien's The Wondersmith illustrated by Rick Geary.
This book is 144 pages long and is such an amazing easy read. The Majority of the artwork is spectacular, the only one art work that I wasn't as much of a fan about was found in The Strategy of the Werewolf Dog. I liked the story just not the art as much. The artwork was a bit weird to me, almost abstract art.
In the classic Christmas song "It's the most wonderful time of the year" one line says, "There'll be scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago." This book is the epitome of the that iconic holiday song lyric. All of the stories are great, but of course my favorite are The Sherlock Holmes and The Dickens classic A Christmas Carol.
If you love graphic novels this Christmas Classics book is an absolute must own. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
