Reviewed by Jason Lockard

Animation is a great form of entertainment. Whether it is the classic animation of Disney such as Bambi, Dumbo, Peter Pan or Cinderella or the new classics from Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks such as Ratatouille, Up, Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo and many many more.

In 2011 Paramount Pictures and Nickeloden Movies came together to bring animation fans a new and unique film. The film was entitled Rango and old west prototype of a film, but with pets.

Rango is a pet chameleon always on the lookout for a good adventure, well a fake kind of adventure that is. After he is thrown from the car in which he was riding, he winds up in the old western town Dirt. The town's water supply is almost gone and there has to be a reason why the supply is disappearing. The townspeople think Rango is the man for the job and is given the job of sheriff now he is on the case to find their missing water.

Rango is a very entertaining animated western comedy. The CGI is masterfully well done. I think the thing that that makes this film so interesting is you can tell there was a lot of love for those old spaghetti westerns like the iconic Django. And Johnny Depp is whimsically great at our reluctant hero Rango.

Along with the voice talents of Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) we get other great talent such as
Isla Fisher (Scooby Doo) Abigail Breslin (Signs) Ned Beatty (Deliverance),  Alfred Molina (Spider-Man No Way Home) Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean) Harry Dean Stanton (The Green Mile) Ray Winstone (Black Widow) Timothy Olyphant (The Book of Boba Fett) Stephen Root (O Brother Where Art Thou?), Maile Flanagan (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), Alanna Ubach (The Spectacular Spider-Man), Ian Abercrombie (Seinfeld), Gil Birmingham (The Twilight Saga), James Ward Byrkit (Coherence), Claudia Black (Farscape), Blake Clark (Boy Meets World), Patrika Darbo (Days of our lives), Charles Fleischer (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), Beth Grant (TV's Jericho) and Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy).

Two versions of this film has been transferred to Blu-ray. It includes both the Theatrical (107 Minutes) and the Extended (111 Minutes) Version of this film. Both films are presented in 1080p in widescreen format and there is audio options are DTS-HD Master Audio 5. in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and English audio description.
