I Spit on your Grave & I Spit on your Grave Deja Vu

Wes Craven shocked the cinematic world with his revenge film The Last House on the Left in 1972. Just a few short years later writer and director Meir Zarchi decided to bring his vision of the revenge genre to film with I Spit on your grave.

After several more movies and a remake, 40 years later original director Meir Zarchi and star Camille Keaton returned for a actual sequel to the original. Now Ronin Films have given the each of these films a deluxe Blu-ray release.

Classic Cinema Plus Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

I Spit on Your Grave (1978) Jennifer Hills is a young writer (Camille Keaton) who was brutally raped and left for dead by four men. After crawling away from her attackers she decides to get hunt down and pick off each and every one of them. **

I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu (2019) Forty years after Jenifer's traumatic experience, she faces the wrath of the families of the men she killed. She and her daughter are kidnapped and have to face off against a gang of degenerates headed by a violent matriarch. **

These films are filled with nudity, rape, violence and profanity. These films are for a very niche audience. I must say these films are very hard to watch. The scenes are extremely unpleasant.

On the flipside of that, seeing a woman not allowing this kind of injustice to take place and just except it, but rise up and take revenge. This can be very empowering! These films may give a woman the strength needed to call the authorities. Hopefully not do as Jennifer did in the films.

Ronin Films have given both films an amazing looking Blu-ray release. Both films are presented in 1080p. The original received a new 4k scan and restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. It is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio with options for mono or 5.1 audio. Than the sequel is in 2.39:1 aspect ratio with a 5.1 Master audio. There is also options on both discs for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

As for the looks of these transfers they are completely beautiful. There is no signs of damage to the original and of course the 2019 film is going to look amazing. But both Blu-rays come loaded with special features that fans of these film will find very interesting. Take a look at what is included.
