Ricky Nelson: Guntersville - Blu-ray Review

Ricky Nelson was not always a musician. He started his life as a child actor on the popular Radio and TV sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett with his mom and dad and brother David. The world watched as Ricky grew from a sharp-witted little kid to a talented singer.

After 14 TV seasons, Ricky Nelson would venture into a successful career as a recording artist and touring singer. Sadly, at the young age of 45, Ricky Nelson would tragically die in a plane crash. In 2025, a documentary about Ricky Nelson's final concert and the surrounding locations was produced. Now, Bayview Entertainment has transferred this film to Blu-ray.

Synopsis: Retracing legendary musician Rick Nelson's final performance in Guntersville, Alabama, this film focuses on the locations significant to Nelson's last days and places the spotlight on the community there that welcomed him and remembers him fondly.

This documentary runs just over an hour in length and captures the brilliance of Ricky's musical abilities with the tragedy that followed. It is amazing to see how the town is haunted by the event and how people still feel the loss 40 years later. This documentary is more than just a film it is a part of Ricky Nelson's legacy.

Bayview Entertainment has transferred Ricky Nelson: Guntersville to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS 2.0 track. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This movie transfer is really nice. There are no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. However, this disc is a bit disappointing as there are no bonus features, and this disc is a burned-on-demand disc. It would have been nice to see some bonus features and a pressed disc, as pressed discs have a much longer shelf life than burned ones.

Still all in all this is a nice little documentary and I am glad to add it to my documentary collection. If you would like to add this Blu-ray to your home video library, you can head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy today.

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the Blu-ray of Ricky Nelson: Guntersville receives.....
