In the past year we have seen WWE and TNA Wrestling wrestlers appear on the other company's shows. Starting with TNA Knockouts World Champion (at the time) Jordynne Grace appearing at WWE's Royal Rumble. Well, it was announced that WWE and TNA will take their partnership to a whole other level.
WWE and TNA Wrestling are entering into a new multi-year partnership allowing wrestlers from both companies to appear on WWE and TNA programming going forward. This makes for a lot of intrigue as you never know who might show up and were!
Speaking of this new partnership.
Ariel Shnerer, Senior Vice President of Content & Distribution for TNA Wrestling and Anthem Sports & Entertainment said this about the partnership:
“This historic relationship demonstrates that collaboration and competition do not have to be mutually exclusive. Our partnership allows the TNA Wrestling brand and its incredible athletes to reach a significantly wider audience, while giving WWE and NXT stars an opportunity to cross the line and gain valuable experience, as they join forces with one of the most talented rosters in professional wrestling today. The response to our collaboration over the past year has been tremendous and both companies have benefited, but the fans have reaped the greatest rewards from this talent crossover and working relationship.”
WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels also said:
“We look forward to growing and evolving our partnership with TNA Wrestling and its outstanding group of athletes by creating new opportunities to further the development of our talent and to elevate the viewer experience at home.”
With this historic announcement and February 1st WWE will host the Royal Rumble at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are no doubt going to see some TNA Wrestlers showing up for this big event. But in addition, this Sunday (January 19), TNA will hold Genesis at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. This PPV will be headlined by Nic Nemeth putting the TNA World Championship on the line against Joe Hendry. Could we see some WWE stars show up? I guess we will have to tune in to find out.
It would be very cool if TNA and WWE could come to terms to see TNA shows and Pay Per Views end up on WWE Network! But that is probably just a pipe dream!
