It is hard to imagine but that film is 50 years old! So, the good folks at Film Masters have taken this little gem of a film and scanned it in 4k from the original camera negative and released it on Blu-ray complete with bonus features. Now fans of 70s cinema can enjoy this film in beautiful HD.
Synopsis: A free-spirited young hitchhiker named Ginger (Sissy Spacek) befriends a divorced middle-aged ad executive named Joe (Monte Markham). Their contrasting personalities - draw them together despite age gap. Unlikely relationship blossoms between the two.
This is a wonderful little romantic comedy from the 70s. The screenplay was written by actor Mark Miller (Please Don't Eat the Daisies) and directed Gordon Wiles. In addition to Sissy and Monte, the cast includes the legendary Slim Pickens, Susan Oliver and Fred Ward in his American film debut.
Some may call this film dated. But this film is from the 70s it's not a new film with old ideas in it. I really enjoy films from yesteryear. The best acting in this film is of course from Sissy. Even in this early film you could see she was a star in the making.
Film Masters have transferred this new 4k film scan to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio options included on this disc a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and a Dolby Digital 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Seeing this film before in a cropped less than spectacular copy of the film didn't give me a lot of high hopes for this release. But boy as I wrong. Film Masters did a tremendous job with this film it looks and sounds amazing in HD. But that is not all that is included on this Blu-ray take a look at the bonus features included on this release.
* Audio Commentary with C. Courtney Joyner and Amanda Reyes
* Remembering Ginger in the Morning: An interview with Monte Markham
* Two Original 35MM Trailers and a 2024 Re-Cut Trailer
* A Booklet insert with liner notes by Susan King

The audio commentary by C. Courtney Joyner and Amanda Reyes is a really enjoyable listen. They drop a lot of knowledge to the listener. The bonus interview with Monte Markham is great as well. When watching this you see he really has love for this production. And Susan King wrote a wonderful little write-up about the great Sissy Spacek.
As I said before I love films from the 70s and it is so nice to see Film Masters rescuing these old films and giving them quality releases they so richly deserve. So, if you love the films of Sissy Spacek or films of the 70s you need to 'Let the sunshine in' and watch Ginger in the Morning and the best way to see it is on this Blu-ray head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
