Demolition Man (1993) 4k UltraHD Review

When you think of action stars in the 1990s they didn't get much bigger than Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes. But what if they would have been together in the same space, the same time on the big screen? Well in 1993 that happened with the sci-fi action film Demolition Man.

As we have seen the 30th anniversary of this film's release. The good folks at Arrow Video have now given this cult classic a much anticipated 4k UltraHD release.

Synopsis: In 2032, arch criminal Simon Phoenix (Snipes) awakens from a 35-year deep freeze in CryoPrison to find a world where crime is almost non-existent - a serene utopia ripe for the taking. With the police no longer equipped to deal with his 90s-style brutality, they revive 'Demolition Man' Sgt. John Spartan (Stallone), the no-holds-barred police officer unjustly sentenced to CryoPrison who originally took Phoenix down. Old-school cop against old-school criminal, settling their scores on the streets of San Angeles? The future won't know what's hit it.

Director Marco Brambilla takes Daniel Waters screenplay and weaves together a sci-fi action film that sprinkles in a little bit of comedy to make one fun and unforgettable cinematic experience. Now by no means is this a tremendous film. Demolition Man is not 2001 A Space Odyssey, Silent Running, or Planet of the Apes, but you will have fun watching this film and after all that is what makes a good film.

Demolition Man has been transferred to 4K Ultra HD (2160p) and is presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio and is in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible). There are two audio options the o
riginal lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Dolby Atmos audio. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Demolition Man not only has been transferred to 4K, but it features a brand new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative by Arrow Films, approved by director Marco Brambilla. This new 4K restoration is crisp and clean and shows no signs of damage to this film. In addition to a wonderful looking restoration there is tons of bonus features included.
