In 2006 a couple years before Marvel's breakout movie Iron Man NBC Studios brought to the air a show like audiences had never seen before. And epic superhero that was not episodic but had overlapping story arc. Each episode would take you on an adventure and leave you hanging for the next one.
Now for superhero show fans we hadn't seen anything like this since the 60s Batman TV Series. Which would make you want to the next night for the conclusion of a 2-night story. But this was different. These episodes would last over a 4-season arc.
In the series Heroes ordinary people around the world discover they have superpowers. But little do these gifted people realize that their lives intertwined. These extraordinary people must work together as a predicted catastrophic future is coming.
The original series ran for 4 Seasons from 2006-2010 and ran for 77 episodes. The first season started off with a bang and people loved this series. But when a writers strike killed the second season and it had to be shortened. The stories became muddy and before long people lost interest with the show.
Then 5 years later in 2015 NBC decided to launch a 13-episode reboot series entitled Heroes Reborn. I think the idea here was to clear up some old storylines and possibly launch a new series. That series while entertaining was still a bit muddy and didn't perform much better than seasons 2-4 of the original series.
Now I have to say, where a lot of people lost interest, I stuck with this series through the entire run. I even was in for the reboot Heroes Reborn. And while I can't say this series was perfect. It is a very entertaining series, even with the muddy storylines.
The special effects are great. The acting is believable. I always loved how that there were so many different characters of different nationalities. It made this series seem so much more epic. I won't talk about the writing much here. The dialogue is great, it's just the storylines could have been a whole lot better as the series rolled on.
Now while you can stream Heroes on Peacock Network for me there is nothing like physical media. I love the holding the collection in my hands. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have released Heroes the complete collection series on Blu-ray.
All 90 episodes from the original series 4 season and the reboot 13 episodes in one epic box set. These episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in widescreen format in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio options an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and a Dolby Digital 2.0. As for Subtitles there are three options, English, Spanish and French.
These episodes look crisp and clean with no digital artifacts. The audio is clear as a bell. These episodes on Blu-ray are clearly an upgrade from the previous DVD releases. But an upgrade of picture quality is not all this Blu-ray set has going for it. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment added some awesome bonus feature to this 21-disc Blu-ray set.
