The Terror & The Little Shop of Horrors: Blu-ray Review

The Film Masters have been thoroughly impressing me with every new Blu-ray release I see. The restorations of these classic films are truly things of beauty! We have seen deluxe Blu-ray editions for films such as The Giant Gila Monster, The Beast from the Haunted Cave and The Scarlet Letter.

Now Roger Corman is responsible for many of the cult classic films. To name the Corman films would take up too much time here. But he was known for being able to make entertaining films on a shoestring budget! One of my favorites was 1963's The Terror. Now The Film Masters are giving this horror classic a deluxe Blu-ray release and they are even throwing in another Corman film Little Shop of Horrors for good measure.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

The Terror (1963)
A French Army officer, Lieutenant Duvalier, has been separated from his unit and receives help from a mysterious woman. He follows her to the castle of Baron Von Lepp only to find that she is the Baron's wife who died 20 years ago. ***

The Little Shop of Horrors (1960)
A clumsy young man nurtures a plant and discovers that it's carnivorous, forcing him to kill to feed it. ***

Film Masters have given these two films the deluxe treatment. The Terror has received an HD restoration from original 35mm archival elements. And The Little Shop of Horrors is presented in an HD print as well!

Both of these films are given their own Blu-ray disc. The Terror is transferred in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Little Shop of Horrors transferred in 1080p in 16.9. Both films are in audio DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The Terror looks great. The colors are bright and vibrant,
and the picture is crisp and clean. I was extremely pleased with the quality of this new restoration. And than there is The Little Shop of Horrors, I own two DVDs of this film and on both the audio is horrible almost unwatchable. The Film Masters have rescued these classics and The Little Shop of Horrors have never looked or sounded as good as I see in this release! The audio is clean! It is a pleasure to watch these films on these Blu-rays.

These two films have been drowning in public domain quicksand. Most releases of these films have been lackluster to say the least, not now thanks to Film Masters.

Now in addition to two Blu-ray discs with stunning looking prints of these Corman classics. Film Masters added some cool bonus features, that must be seen to be believed.

* Full length commentary for 'Little Shop of Horrors' by Justin Humphreys and Special Guest

* Full color inserted booklet with original essays

With amazing looking prints, cool commentaries, featurettes and a booklet insert, Film Masters have done it yet again. They have released a Blu-ray that is a must own for Roger Corman fans. Or for that matter fans if 1960s cinema! I am so glad to see this release and to have it as part of my collection!
