Beast from Haunted Cave / Ski Troop Attack (1959-1960) Blu-ray Review

Roger Corman is literally the king of the B movies. He produced and directed sci-fi, horror and adventure films on a small budget and these films would make money and were ultra popular.

His model was to produce two films with the same cast of actors getting the most for his budget. A very smart model! Two of the films he produced were Beast from the Haunted Cave and Ski Troop Attack. Now the Film Masters have restored these two films and put them on Blu-ray.

Our Rating System
**** = Don't Miss It!
*** = Worth A Look.
** = An Ok way to spend an evening.
*= You haven't missed anything.

Beast from the Haunted Cave (1959) A group of gold thieves pull of a heist and flee into the snowy wilderness, only to be pursued by a horrible, spider-like monster. **

Ski Troop Attack (1960)
An American patrol skis behind enemy lines to blow up a railroad bridge. But a conflict between the platoon's veteran sergeant and the lieutenant makes things even harder. **

These two films are not the best of the Corman produced films, but they are fun double feature to watch! Beast from Haunted Cave was directed by Monte Hellman and Ski Troop Attack was directed by Roger Corman.

Beast from Haunted Cave have been restored in 4k and Ski Troop Attack is presented in HD. Both films get a Blu-ray disc all their own! They have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p. Take a look at the bonuses included on the Blu-ray discs.

The new 4K restoration of Beast from Haunted Cave is pretty impressive. When you look in comparison to the public domain releases of this film. This new 4K scan looks miles better! And with two versions of the film, two insightful commentaries, a simply amazing featurette covering the history of Corman's Filmgroup and a book insert. The Film Masters have done it again making a release Corman fans will love!

Now a really cool bonus feature is a hidden  Easter Egg. On the Beast from Haunted Cave Blu-ray disc main menu if you scroll to the right it will highlight the Beast. When you click on it a 6 and a half minute interview with actor Chris Robinson.

I simply love the fact that they included an Easter Egg on this disc. That is something that has gone through way of the Dinosaur with DVDs and Blu-rays.  Maybe this is the sign of the resurrection of Easter Eggs. I certainly hope so.

So, if you love Roger Corman B-movies as much as I do, this new Blu-ray from Film Masters is an absolute must add to your collection. This release is also available on DVD Head over to
