Cats Don't Dance (1997) Blu-ray Review

Cats Don't Dance Warner Archive Blu-ray Cover
Warner Archive Collection have been moving into releasing animation. Whether it was classic Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry or Animated Feature films. Warner Archive released the Judy Garland animated feature film Gay Purr-ee on Blu-ray.

Now it is time for another Animated Feature film to get a chance to shine on Blu-ray. This time it is 1997's Cats Don't Dance, featuring the voice talents of A Different World's Jasmine Guy and Quantum Leap's Scott Bakula.

Danny is a way-cool hep cat with toes that yearn to tap, and Sawyer, the sexy, cynical chanteuse for whom Danny swoons. But twirl, tap and leap as he might in dances choreographed by legendary human dancer Gene Kelly Danny can't even get an audition. People always get the good parts; animals only bark, moo or meow.

Cat's Don't Dance is a fun little musical. While it is good for kids, the whole family will enjoy this film. There is no offensive material in this film. So, from the youngest child to the oldest grandparent will be entertained.

In addition to Jasmine Guy and Scott Bakula there are other recognizable voices in this film. The talents of John Rhys-Davies (Sliders), Betty Lou Gerson (One Hundred and One Dalmatians), Don Knotts (Andy Griffith Show, Three's Company), George Kennedy (Cool Hand Luke) and René Auberjonois (Benson) are there.

Can't Don't Dance has been restored and transferred in 1080p and is presented in 1.85:1. The audio is a DTS-MA HD 5.1 Surround. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Cats Don't Dance features a new 4K scan. This new scan looks and sound stunning. The colors of the animation are bright and vibrant. The film looks as if it could have been produced yesterday. But Warner Archive Collection didn't just give us a gorgeous 4k scan of the film. They added some classic Warner Brothers cartoons as well.

Warner Bros. Cartoons

Daffy Duck in Hollywood (1938) Daffy wreaks havoc on a movie set at Wonder Pictures.

What's Up, Doc (1950) Bugs' showbiz career is recounted from babyhood to stardom.

Show Biz Bugs (1957) Bugs and Daffy are vaudevillians competing for adoration. Audiences love Bugs and despise for Daffy.

Curtain Razor (1949) Porky Pig is a talent agent auditioning performers. A fox keeps interrupting and promising Porky the act of the century.

Original Theatrical Trailer

With a beautiful restoration and additional classic cartoons added to this Blu-ray. I cannot recommend this one enough. This is a perfect film for a family film night! The music the animation. It is just loads of fun.

So, if you love animated films as much as I do, Cats Don't Dance on Blu-ray is a must! Head over to MovieZyng and order your copy you won't be disappointed.
