Reviewed by: Jason Lockard

4K is the new big thing! The Ultra HD experience! Mill Creek Entertainment has released their first of what I hope is many more to come releases on 4K. First A Beautiful Planet and now Journey to the South Pacific.

The islands of the South Pacific are some of the most beautiful places in the world. Now we can experience
the beauties of the South Pacific from the comfort of our couch with the IMAX documentary on 4K from Mill Creek Entertainment.

Journey to the South Pacific is a 2013 documentary film that follows a young island boy named Jawi, as he takes us on a journey of discovery to this magical place where we encounter whale sharks, sea turtles, manta rays, and other iconic creatures of the sea. Home to more than 2000 species of sea life, this exotic locale features the most diverse marine ecosystem on Earth. This uplifting story
is narrated by Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett.

This documentary looks and sounds phenomenal! Seeing the beautiful marine life in Ultra HD is mind-blowing! The brilliant colors are so vibrant, the marine life almost doesn't look real! It looks like it could be CGI! Of course it isn't. Through this release we see how beautiful creation is and that we should all do our part to protect it! This is an amazing journey and Cate Blanchett does a tremendous job as our host on this journey!

Now for the actual discs. On the 4K disc the film is presented in 2160p Ultra High Definition HDR10 (1.78:1) and audio in DTS-X Master Audio 5.1. On the Blu-ray disc 1080p High Definition (1.78:1) and audio in DTS-X Master Audio 5.1. The 4K looks phenomenal and even the Blu-ray looks incredible.

Having this film in 4K would be enough for any film fan, but there is bonus features on this 4K release they include; Trailer, Making of featurette and webisodes
This is an amazing little 4K/Blu-ray release. So if you fan of the beauties of marine life or IMAX releases this is a must own release.

So take a vacation from the comfort of your couch with this release. I highly recommend it. Head over  to www.MillCreekEnt.com or your local 4K provider and pick up one today.
