World War II Double Feature (1968-1969) {DVD Review}

Reviewed by Jason S. Lockard

World War II was also known as "The Big One". The war lasted a long six years. But thankfully evil was extinguished and the right won out. Since World War II many films were made celebrating the brave men who went to war and risked much and some who gave their lives.

Alpha Video has released a double feature of of World War II films on DVD. Lets take a look at the films included on this DVD and the quality of the prints of the films included in this collection.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

Hell in Normandy (1968): Parachutists are assigned the task of destroying the nerve center of flame thrower installations on Omaha Beach. The film stars Guy Madison, Erika Blanc and Peter Lee Lawrence. **

Five for Hell (1969): Five brave and ruthless soldiers are chosen for a suicide mission behind enemy lines in World War II. The film features the talents of
Klaus Kinski, John Garko (Sartana films) and Margaret Lee.
**

These two films feature action packed stories with good acting. The cinematography is good. The action sequences are believable taking you right on the front lines of World War II! Are these can't miss films? No! But they are a piece of cinematic history and would make a good addition to any war film fans' library!

The audio and video quality of these films are good. There is some minor ghosting in the picture, but it is nothing that should take away from the viewing of these films!

I really enjoyed this double feature DVD. I am proud to display it on my war section on my DVD collection. So if you love old war pictures this is one you have to check out! Head over to Oldies.com and get your copy today!
