Diamonds of Kilimandjaro (1983) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

MVD's new label is MVD Classics releasing older films on Blu-ray! They released a Jess Franco film entitled Golden Temple Amazons now it's time for another Jess Franco release from 1983 Diamonds of Kilimandjaro on Blu-ray.

The film follows an expedition consisting of members of a British family and an expert hunter into the jungles of darkest Africa. The team searches for treasure, and looking to rescue Diana, an English girl who was lost in the jungles as a child earlier.

Diana is now a fully grown and is the goddess worshiped by a tribe of savage headhunters, the Mabutos. The group shoot and kill one of Diana’s tribe, which brings down the wrath of the natives. Where will Diana's loyalty lie with her real family or her jungle family? You'll have to watch the film to find out!

OK I think we all know that Jess Franco took the concept of Tarzan and twisted it into a story of his own making here! And while the idea of a female Tarzan character is not a bad idea. But the story that just seemed to
fall flat for me! And it's not because of the exploitation aspect of the film either!

The cinematography is nice! The scenery is beautiful! While I myself am not a fan of Jess Franco films, I know there are people who love his movies! That's what makes the world go round! This film looks and sounds great on Blu-ray-ray.

On the Blu-ray the film is presented in
1.66:1 aspect ratio and 2.0 stereo. The bonus features include trailers of other MVD Classic Collection releases.

So if your a fan of Jess Franco films this Blu-ray is one you'll want to add to your collection! Head over to MVDshop.com and pre-order your copy today!
