In 2003 as the original horror film was approaching its 30th anniversary. So, producers Michael Bay and Mike Fleiss decided it was time to remake this horror film for a new generation. Now it's hard to believe this remake is now over 20 years old, so it's time for a UltraHD release thanks to Arrow Video.
Synopsis: A group of carefree young adults' road trip through Texas is cut short when the panic-stricken hitchhiker they've picked up shoots herself in the back of their vehicle. Desperate to find help, our heroes are directed to the home of the local Sheriff, but little do they know they are stumbling into the lair of the Hewitts, the most violent family in all of Texas, including their chainsaw-wielding son.
Anytime you are remaking a classic film you are fighting an uphill battle. The film will always be compared to the original. When watching the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre one thing is sure they don't try to rebuild the wheel. They take aspects of the original film that worked so well and just update them as well as enhance the backstory.
Jessica Biel does a great job as Erin Hardesty the new version of the original Sally. It's hard to take on a role that was made famous by Marylin Burns in the original, but she unapologetically makes it her own. This film is full of jump scares just like film fans in this generation love!
Arrow Video has transferred The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) in 4K in 2160p presented in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible). There are two audio options the original DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 and 5.1 surround audio and lossless stereo audio. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Arrow Video did a tremendous job with this transfer to UltraHD. Leatherface looks so much more terrifying in 4K! The kills look even more graphic in UltraHD! The picture is sharp, and all the gritty grimy detail is on full display and really benefits from the 4k treatment.
Now Arrow Video didn't stop at just a 4K transfer of the film. Not by a longshot. They went above and beyond and really loaded up this disc with tons of bonus features that will keep horror hound entertained for quite a while. Take a look at what is included on this disc.
