Spaghetti Westerns are a niche genre of film. Either you love them or you don't. Sergio Leone is the most notable maker of these westerns, but director Duccio Tessari put his unique spin on this genre with two films featuring a marksmen that is the polar opposite of Clint Eastwood's The Man with no name. Now Arrow films have brought these two classic old west tales to high definition Blu-ray.

Let's take a looks at what is included in this Blu-ray release!

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

A Pistol For Ringo (1965) An anti-hero, known as Angel face played by Giuliano Gemma,
is tasked with infiltrating a ranch overrun by Mexican bandits and saving their hostages, including the fiancée of the local sheriff. ***

The Return Of Ringo (1965) A gunslinger (Giuliano Gemma), now a veteran of war, disguises himself as a Mexican in order to take revenge on outlaws who have stolen his property and taken his wife. ***

While these films sound like a feature and a sequel it's not! Return of Ringo is a film all of it's own. It featuring
Giuliano Gemma playing another character who just happened to be named Ringo!

The two films included on this Blu-ray release have been restored in 2K from the original negative and is presented in High Definition (1080p) presentation. Also you get the original Italian and English soundtracks with uncompressed Mono 1.0 PCM audio. Also a newly translated English subtitles for the Italian soundtrack and the option of English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English soundtrack. The films look stunning for 1964 and 1965.

As awesome as it is to get these two films in impressive HD that isn't even close to being all you get! There is the bonus features that include the following;

• Audio commentaries for both films by Spaghetti Western experts C. Courtney Joyner and Henry Parke

• A Western Greek Tragedy, an archival featurette with Lorella de Luca and camera operator Sergio D’Offizi

• Gallery of original promotional images
• Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Gilles Vranckx

All this makes for an extraordinary Blu-ray release for western fans! All I kept thinking while watching this was how much my dad would have enjoyed this Blu-ray release! He was an avid western fan! I am sure he would approve!
