Dead Wrong (2024) Blu-ray Review

When you think of crime thrillers there are several films that come to mind. Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, and my favorite Wait Until Dark. All of these are thrilling crime movies, yet all are completely different that the other. But if you are looking for a fun time you can never go wrong with a thriller.

In 2024 Rick Bieber wrote and directed a crime thriller that would take Rob Schneider from the world of comedy to the world of organized crime. That film would be entitled Dead Wrong. Now the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment are releasing this film on Blu-ray!

Synopsis: Narcissistic husband, Billy (Derek Smith), is married to his high school sweetheart (Katrina Bowden) and filled with blind jealousy over the life and wealth of his lifelong best friend, the local mob boss (Chet Hanks). Never happy with his life, he devises a psychotic, get-rich-quick scheme with a gambling and alcohol -addicted lawyer (Rob Schneider), who is deeply in debt to his Brooklyn-born bookmaker (Joshua Bitton). Billy’s plan ignites an emotional and deadly chain reaction that devastates the life of everyone around him, including the insurance investigator assigned to his case (Cress Williams).

Now Dead Wrong is not a top notch crime thriller. This isn't Pulp Fiction or The Godfather. But the film is an interesting tale that really take you on a ride of greed, envy, sex and murder. The film can be a bit slow in places and you could get lost if you are not paying attention with all  the jumps. But for a low budget thriller, it does bring a lot of entertainment value.

As for the cast everyone is believable in their roles but Chet Hanks is frighteningly good as the mob boss Jacko. Than there is Rob Schneider, he really surprised me in this film. I am so used to seeing him as the crazy off the wall character, not here. This is defiantly a performance to see. These two really stand out!

Now just a quick viewer warning. This film is for mature audiences only. It is filled with adult language, violence, sexual content and brief nudity. So just be aware, if any of this offends you. This is one you might want to skip.

Dead Wrong has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The soundtrack is a DTS-HD-Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The film transfer is pretty nice. The picture is crisp and clean with no signs of digital artifacts. The audio is clear. It is a very nice copy of this film. But what makes this Blu-ray even more interesting is the bonus. Not only do you get the 1 hour and 50 minute theatrical version of the film. Included is the 1hour 44 minute director's cut of the film. That is a really nice bonus!

So if you like crime dramas featuring shady characters doing nit so nice things. Dead Wrong may be a release you may want to add to your collection. Head over to Amazon or Deep Discount and order your copy today.

Out of 4 Film Reels (4 being the best) the Blu-ray of Dead Wrong receives.....
