The Last Blood (1991) Blu-ray Review

The Last Blood 88 Films Blu-ray Cover
88 Films have been racking up a huge catalogue of Hoing Kong Blu-rays and no doubt physical media and Hong Kong films fans have been snatching these up right and left. We have seen such releases as The Postman fights Back, Taxi Hunter and Magic Cop.

Now it is time for another Hong Kong film to be released on deluxe Blu-ray. This time it is 1991's Wong Jing directed action film The Last Blood.

When a high-ranking Tibetan Lama is wounded by terrorist, only a transfusion of his ultra rare blood type can save him. Heroic Hong Kong cops Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, The Great Wall) and Alan Tam (Armour of God) must protect the unlikely donor, Eric Tsang (Lucky Stars series) from the assassins out to kill him.

The Last Blood was shot featuring the simply gorgeous locations of Singapore. The action is top notch and the story is exciting. Fans of Hong Kong action films will find this film on Blu-ray a welcomed addition to their collection.

The film has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There is also the audio option of 2.0 audio for either Cantonese or English language. There is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

88 Films brings a transfer that features heavy grain. But it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the film. It is something to be aware of going into this Blu-ray. The colors are bright and there are no signs of damage to the picture that I could see. Also, the audio soundtrack is clear. In addition to the film 88 Films added some very cool bonus features. Look at what is included!

* Audio Commentary with Hong Kong Film Expert Frank Djeng

* English Trailer

* Hong Kong Trailer

* Still Galley

* Limited Edition Slipcover and Poster

* Reversible cover with new design by Sean Longmore and Original Hong Kong Art

88 Film continually amazes me with their ability to outdo their previous release. I am such a huge fan of artwork. So, to me seeing posters reversable artwork, slipcover. These additions make these Blu-rays so much better.
