God's Country Song (2023) DVD Review

Films that have a message are always something special. I always enjoy seeing an entertaining film and that getting to discuss the message with my family. Some issues really need to be addressed. Faith-Based films make you look deep inside, and I like that.

Mill Creek Entertainment have been releasing a lot of faith based films here lately, and I must say I have enjoyed every one of them. From Unlikely Angel, Heaven Sent, Running the Bases and Nefarious. Well, that latest film to get a DVD release is 2023's God's Country Song.

Noah Bryan (Justin Gaston, Days of our lives, The Young and the restless) wants nothing more than to be the next big country music star, until his past catches up to him. Noah learns he has a five-year old child with a now deceased woman he barely remembers, leaving Noah sole custody of the boy. Will Noah do the right thing and raise the child or abandon everything in pursuit of his country music dreams?

Johnny Remo Co-wrote (with Daniel Backman) and directed this film and what a film God's Country Song is! The story has real heart to it and Justin Gaston bring a performance I was not expecting, extremely good! The supporting cast is amazing as well. We see familiar faces like, Mariel Hemingway (Superman IV, Manhattan), John Laughlin (Footloose, The Lawnmower Man, The Rock) and Justene Alpert (9-1-1, The Lincoln Lawyer, Bosch). And the music great as well!

The film has been transferred to DVD in 2.35:1 aspect ratio Anamorphic Widescreen. The audio is a Dolby Digital 5.1. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. This is a really nice-looking transfer, no signs of digital artifacts at all!

I would love to have seen some interviews and featurettes, as I really enjoyed this film. The only bonus feature found on this DVD is that movie trailer. As I said it would have been nice to see additional features, but to have the trailer is better than nothing! So, I will gladly take that!

God's Country Song is an entertaining, heartwarming and inspiring tale of finding your purpose in life, a purpose you never would have dreamed of! I will defiantly be revisiting this film again down the line.
