Blu-ray Review: Redline (2007)

People love Vin Diesel and the Fast and the Furious films series. It has been so profitable and it is still running wild! Now the 10th installment has been released with Fast X now in theaters. You might think 10 is a good amount and a good place to end, but there are two more Fast and Furious films scheduled. So this is proof that this franchise is big money!

So being that people love their fast car adventures. What better way to celebrate that than with another fast car adventure. So MVD Marquee Collection are bringing physical media fans a Blu-ray release of 2007 Redline.

On the streets of Los Angeles and Las Vegas, daredevil drivers race the world's most exotic cars for million dollar bets. But as the stakes rise, so does the danger - from deadly crashes to kidnapping and murder - and only the fast and furious survive. With adrenaline-pumping action and some of the rarest, most expensive high performance vehicles ever raced and obliterated on film, Redline roars into high gear and doesn't let off the gas until the final explosive rush.

The legendary stuntman and fight choreographer Andy Cheng (End Game) directs this film, while the Academy Award® nominee Bill Butler (Jaws, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) bring cinematography the keep you on the edge of your seat with the 100 miles and hour fun. When watching Redline it seems like something out of a video game!

The cast is truly an impressive one including, Nadia Bjorlin (Days of our lives), Nathan Phillips (Snakes on a Plane), Angus Macfadyen (Saw series), Tim Matheson (Animal House), Jesse Johnson (Gun Shy), Eddie Griffin (Armageddon) and Ernie Reyes Jr. (The Last Dragon). But sadly the screenplay by Robert Foreman and Daniel Sadek doesn't allow for much character development. Which in turn doesn't help us care about these characters much! Finally the story has a lot going on, maybe a little to much. Sometimes less is more!

Redline makes it's Blu-ray debut thanks to MVD Entertainment Group, under the division of MVD Marquee Collection. The film has been transferred in 1080p in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The audio is a 5.1 Surround sound and there is also the option for English and Spanish Subtitles.

The neon colors used in this film really shine in high definition. The colors are vibrant and pop off the screen. The picture is crisp and the audio is clean. It is so sharp that it makes you feel like you are right in the middle of the action. Now MVD Marquee Collection added some cool bonus features to this release, take a look at what is included.

* "Under the Hood: The Making of 'Redline'" featurette

* "Redline at the LA Auto Show" featurette

* Original Theatrical Trailer

LA Auto Show and the trailer are great additions to this Blu-ray! But I personally found the making of featurette the best. The featurette runs just under 12 minutes. That was kind of short I was desiring more! Of course I guess the old adage is true "leave them wanting more".

Now let's be honest here, Redline is not the high profile film that any of the Fast and Furious series is. It just isn't! But that doesn't mean it's not entertaining! Producer Daniel Sadek allows us the viewers to sit shotgun as we go along for this fun ride!

So if Redline seems like a film you would like to have in your collection, I would highly recommend the Blu-ray release from MVD Marquee Collection. You can pre-order a copy for yourself or a friend by heading over to Amazon today.

Out of 4 Film Reels (4 being the best) the MVD Marquee Blu-ray of Redline receives...
