Country Line (2017) {Mill Creek Entertainment DVD Review}

Earlier this year we had the extreme pleasure to review Mill Creek Entertainment's DVD release of the crime mystery Country Line: All In. You can read that review here. But that film is a sequel. So as much as I enjoyed that film, I was very interested in watching the first film.

Well, now for the Holiday season my wish has come true. Mill Creek Entertainment has released the first film 2017's "Country Line" on DVD. To say I was excited for this release would be an understatement.

After he looses his re-election ex-Sheriff Alden Rockwell (Tom Wopat) begins to settle into retirement. But with his wife dying and his daughter leaving to serve her country, he has a lot on his plate. Than things get even worse with his best friend and neighboring sheriff Clint Thorne (Jeff Fahey) is gunned down. Now he must take matters into his own hands with no badge and no backup. When a conspiracy threatens his investigation, Alden soon realizes some lines must be crossed.

Country Line is really a wild western set in the present day. It is
 such a well written and well acted piece of cinema. This film has so many familiar faces including; Tom Wopat (Dukes of Hazzard), Patricia Richardson (Home Improvement), Lance E. Nichols (Treme), Mark Ashworth (Stargirl), Jeff Fahey (The Lawnmower Man, Darkman III: Die Darkman Die) and Grant Goodeve (Eight is Enough).

The film has been transferred in widescreen format in 1.78:1 aspect ratio and the audio is a 5.1 surround around. The transfer is very impressive. I love this partnership with Mill Creek and Imagicomm Entertainment. Now in addition to a great film on DVD. There are some nice bonus features included.

* First Look Trailer for Country Line

* Fights and Stunts: A 2 minute look behind the scene of Country Line

* Tom Wopat Lawman: In this 1 and a half minute Tom Wopat talks about his history with playing sheriffs in film.

* Who is Clint Throne: in this just over 1 minute interview Jeff Fahey speaks to who Clint Thorne is and why he enjoyed playing him.

* Trailers (Legal Action, Christmas on the Coast, Heritage Falls, Savannah Sunrise, Christmas in the Smokies)

I really enjoyed the sequel Country Line: All In that I reviewed earlier this year and I have to say I enjoyed this the first film even more. There is some violence, but no profanity and sexual content. In this day and age how many films can say that?

So if you love mysteries as much as I do, head over to Deep Discount and order your copy of Country Line All In from Mill Creek Entertainment. It really is a good little film.

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) Mill Creek Entertainment DVD release of Country Line receives...
