Don Knotts was a comedian, but it wasn't until he took the role of the inept deputy sheriff of Mayberry North Carolina Barney Fife that he became a household name. After 5 hilarious seasons on The Andy Griffith Show Don Knotts moved to making feature films, before taking on another iconic TV role of Ralph Furley in Three's Company.

So in honor of what would have been his 98th birthday we care counting down our Top 7 favorite Don Knotts films. 

7. The Incredible Mr. Limpet (1964) Henry Limpet (Knotts) love aquatic life. When he falls into the sea and transforms into a fish and becomes best friends with a crab and falls in love with a female fish. 

6. No Deposit, No Return (1976) Two mischievous youngsters enlist bumbling burglars Bert (Don Knotts) and Duke (Darren McGavin) to kidnap them, then demand a huge ransom check so they can get the money to visit their mother in China.

5. Gus (1976) The California Atoms are a loosing National Football League team. That is until now! They have found the greatest kicker in history Gus.... a mule capable of place kicking a football 100 yards.

4. How to Frame a Figg (1971) The city commissioner has been embezzling money from public funds. Worried that the townspeople might find out he hires the inept Hollis Figg (Knotts) as the town's bookkeeper. But soon it backfire as Hollis discovers what's been going on.

3. The Shakiest Gun In The West (1968) Jesse W. Haywood (Knotts) is a dentist who travels west to set up a practice in the frontier. Now in the old west he meets a pretty bandit, gets mixed up with Indians and soon earns a reputation as a great gunslinger.

2. The Reluctant Astronaut (1967) Roy Fleming (Don Knotts)'s father has dreams of his son being an astronaut. When he is excepted at NASA he must hide the fact that he is a janitor.

1. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966) Luther Heggs (Knotts) is a timid typesetter spends a night alone in the spooky mansion to try to catch a ghost and ends up solving a murder mystery.
