RoboCop The Complete Series {Blu-ray Review}

Liberation Hall RoboCop TV Series Bluray
Reviewed By Jason Lockard

When I was a kid I remember watching the most intense sci-fi action film ever on TV. That film was RoboCop. The film stayed with me from that first viewing. And every time it came on the air I had to watch it again. I watched the film so many time I could not count them.

Now there were two sequels of less than stellar results. But that first film was so amazing that people still wanted to see more even after those sequels. So thus the RoboCop TV Series was born. Now the good folks at Liberation Hall is releasing the TV Series on Blu-ray and DVD.

The OCP project ''Delta City'' is now complete. Robocop/Alex Murphy (Richard Eden) is now working for the Metro South Police Precinct along with his partner, Lisa Madigan (Yvette Nipar, ''21 Jump Street''). New threat arise and it is up to them and precinct head Sgt. Stan Parks (Blu Mankuma, 2012), technician Charlie Lippencott (Ed Sahely, Maximum Risk) and an adopted orphan named Gadget (Sarah Campbell, Body Parts) to keep the streets safe for law abiding citizens.

Now where the original RoboCop and RoboCop 2 was campy and ultra-violent the 3rd films was toned down and made more family-friendly. Producers felt they could tap into the toy market. With the TV Series they used this same practice.

Now while Richard Eden and Yvette Nipar are not Peter Weller and Nancy Allen they make a great duo. And it was really cool to see the great Rowdy Roddy Piper make an appearance in this series. Now while the series lacks the violence saw in the film series, it makes up for in great story telling. As this was my first time watching this series, I must say truly enjoyed the experience.

Liberation Hall has transferred the entire series on DVD and Blu-ray. We are talking the pilot movie and the following 21 hour episodes. We are talking 17 hours of entertainment.

DISC 1: The Future Of Law Enforcement / Prime Suspect

DISC 2: Trouble In Delta City / Officer Missing / What Money Can't Buy / Ghosts Of War / Zone Five

DISC 3: Provision 22 / Faces Of Eve / When Justice Fails / The Human Factor / Inside Crime

DISC 4: RoboCop vs Commander Cash / Illusions / Tin Man / Sisters In Crime / Heartbreakers

DISC 5: Mother's Day / Nano / Corporate Raiders / Midnight Minus One / Public Enemies

The series was originally presented in full screen format. Now if you get the DVD version of this set you'll find the full screen format. But if you get this Blu-ray set you will find these episodes presented in widescreen format. Presented in 16:9 and the audio is a LCPM 2.0 Stereo.

Now I have seen films and TV shows stretched to be presented in widescreen it looks hideous to say the least. And was expecting extremely bad stretching of the picture as well. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It's not the original format but it looks pretty good. Liberation Hall added some really cool bonus features to this set. Take a look at what is included.

* Behind The Scenes Featurette

* Toy Commercial

* Photo Gallery

* Cast Profiles (Richard Eden, Lisa Madigan, Andrea Roth, Sarah Campbell, & David Gardner)
