Stephen King has been the author of nightmares for years and years. His books have been adapted to film numerous times. Some are great! Some of okay! And some are just plain bad. Many adaptions of these film even Stephen King himself hate.
So there are so many good adaptions of Stephen King stories, we could easily do a top 20 or top 30 list. But to weed the list down to seven seems like an impossible task, yet we did it!
So these are our favorite Stephen King films at Classic Cinema Plus..
7. The Running Man (1987) In the future of 2019 a falsely convicted policeman Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) gets his shot at freedom when he gets the chance to play a deadly TV game show entitled The Running Man where convicts killers for their freedom.
6. Thinner (1996) Billy Halleck (Robert John Burke) is an obese lawyer who accidentally hits a Gypsy with his car. When he gets away with the manslaughter the victim's father, Tadzu Lempke , places a curse on him causing him to lose weight at an alarming rate.
5. Cujo (1983) A friendly St. Bernard, Cujo is bitten by a rabid bat and contracts rabies. Donna Trenton (Dee Wallace) and her son Tad (Danny Pintauro) car breaks down in the junkyard where Cujo resides. He than holds the duo hostage.
4. The Green Mile (1999) A large black man named John Coffey (Michael Clark Duncan) is accused of child rape and murder. While on death row the guards soon realize that John is innocent and is a God-given gift to mind kind.
3. Shawshank Redemption (1994) Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the murders of his wife and her lover that he didn't commit. While during his 19 years he experiences the harsh side of prison life, till he had enough.
2. Misery (1990) Paul Sheldon (James Caan) the author of a popular book series Misery is rescued from a car crash by his biggest fan. He soon realizes that Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) doesn't have his best interests at heart.
1. Pet Sematary (1989) Dr. Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) and his family move to a new town. When tragedy strikes, he uses the power of an ancient burial ground behind his home to raise the dead.
