In 1953 they made a 3D movie entitled Money From Home, this was also their first color film as well. Kino Lorber has rescued this 3D film from obscurity and finally released it on Blu-ray for the first time ever.
Synopsis: When Honey Talk Nelson's (Dean Martin) gambling debts start to mount, he enlists his veterinarian cousin Virgil (Jerry Lewis) to help him fix a race. Along the way, the boys find plenty of time for gags, music, and for "Honey Talk," a romance with the gorgeous Phyllis (Marjie Millar). Features their now classic take on Cyrano de Bergerac!
Money From Home may not be their strongest film, but there is no denying this film is so much fun. Dean is as sauve and debonair as ever and Jerry is hilarious crazy. The highlight of this film is definatly the Cyrano part, where Jerry lipsinks to Dean's singing and how it all goes awry.
Kino Lorber has transferred Money From Home in 1080p and is presented in 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Now this is not just any transfer this transfer is taken from a 4K Restoration by Paramount Pictures and 3-D Film Archive, Restored from the 35mm Dynoptic 3-D Technicolor Camera Negatives.
Kino Lorber didn't just give the viewer the option of the 3-D film they also gave us the 2D version as well. This is very nice as not everyone has a 3D set in their home. So you can still enjoy the newly restored version of this Martin and Lewis classic in HD!
Seeing this film on Blu-ray is an extreme pleasure. I have this film on DVD now seeing it in HD. The film is crisp and clean the colors a gorgeous and the audio is as clear as a bell. Martin's singing sounds as good as if our are listening to one of his CDs.And Lewis' antics are even more fun in high definaition. Definatly a great upgrade from the DVD.
