Twisting the Knife {Arrow Video Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

Claude Chabrol is known as the French Hitchcock. The good folks at Arrow Video put together a collection of five Chabrol films and released them on deluxe Blu-ray entitled, Lies and Deceit

Now it's time for round two of Claude Chabrol film on Blu-ray. This Volume is 4 newly restored films in a deluxe collection entitled Twisting the Knife. Let's take a look at what is included in this set.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

The Swindle (1997) Betty and Victor tour quietly around France in their motor home living safely on part-time swindles…until they become involved in a scam with high stakes and international implications. ***

The Color of Lies (1999) In a small Breton town, a 10-year-old girl is found murdered. René, her art teacher, a professional painter, is the last person to have seen her alive. ***

Nightcap (2000) A woman learns that at birth there was an incident at the hospital in which she was mixed up with another child. ***

The Flowers of Evil (2003) A seemingly perfect family begins to unravel when the wife and mother of the family involves herself in politics. ***

All four films have been transferred in 1080 HD. There are new
 4K restorations of The Swindle, Nightcap and The Flower of Evil. The audio soundtrack is a original lossless PCM French stereo audio on all films plus DTS-HD 5.1 on Nightcap and The Flower of Evil. And there is the optional English subtitles.

The new 4K restorations of these three film are stunning to say the least. And even The Color of Lies even though it has not been restored in 4K still looks pretty impressive on Blu-ray. But Arrow Video is known for the bonus features that they put into their releases and this one is no different. Look at what is included.
