Cary Grant is a screen legend. He has starred in many iconic films over his career. From comedy to intense drama, fantasy to adventure. I always loved his vocal cadence. He was one of Alfred Hitchcock's favorite leading men starring in four of his films.

It's hard to believe that Cary Grant was nominated for only 2 Academy awards for Best Actor and sadly didn't win either one. In 1970 he received an Honorary Academy Award for his unique mastery of the art of screen acting with the respect and affection of his colleagues.

Kino Lorber have been making some amazing collection of films from screen legends. And Cary Grant is the latest to get this treatment. The Cary Grant Collection collects three early Grant films on Blu-ray. Let's take a look at what is included in this box set.

Movie Rating:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

Ladies Should Listen (1934) A telephone operator in love with one of her clients tries to manage his affairs but only manages to complicate them. ***

Wedding Present (1936) After unwittingly destroying his engagement through a practical joke, a reporter tries to recapture his ex-fiancee's love. ***

Big Brown Eyes (1936) A Times Square manicurist turns reporter and helps a detective on a case. ***

I have seen a lot of Cary Grant films in my life, but these one I have never seen until now! I am so thankful that Kino Lorber is releasing these "not so well know" early Grant films to the the home video collectors. Each of these films show you the range of acting Cary Grant had and why he became a superstar in Hollywood.

While these films are Cary Grant vehicles he is joined by amazing Hollywood legends. Some of the names include, Joan Bennett, Gene Lockhart, Walter Pidgeon and Francis Drake just to name a few.

Kino Lorber have transfer these films in this collection and they look and sound amazing! They are transferred in their original full screen format. I have seen some companies stretch the image to fit wide screen TVs, thus destroying the image. Here the image is preserved.

As for the picture quality I am very impressed with these transfers. There is some slight specks on each of the prints. But to me they are so minor it is hardly worth even speaking of. The audio is in the original 2.0 mono track and it sounds very clear for 30s films. There is also English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Now for bonus features! On this Blu-ray collection Kino Lorber included trailers for other Cary Grant films, The Eagle and the Hawk, Alice in Wonderland. There is also trailers for Edward G. Robinson's A Woman in the Window, Janet Gaynor's The Young in Heart, Barbara Stanwyck in The Bride wore Boots and Gregory Peck's The World in his arms

In addition to that they include great commentaries. On Wedding Present we hear from film historian Kat Ellinger. Than on Big Brown Eyes we hear from Film Critic Nick Pinkerton. There is a lot of information these two give the viewer. It is very cool to hear all this historical information.

These three film all come with their own Blu-ray case with it's own cover art. They are stored in a very handsome box. It is such a beautiful box set that this one deserves to be on display instead of just shoved on some Blu-ray shelf.
