The Wild One (1953)

Marlon Brando is a legend. He brought us amazing performances in films such as, A Streetcar named Desire, On the Waterfront, Viva Zapata, Julius Cesar and The Godfather. Now Mill Creek Entertainment brings us the classic 50s Brando film The Wild One on blu-ray.

The film follows Johnny Strabler a cop-hating, leader of The Black Rebels; a motorcycle gang. The gang invade a small town, rebelling against anything and everything is their motto. While in the town he meets and falls for a good girl Kathie who's father happens to be a cop. Will love change his life or will he continue with his rebellious ways. You'll have to watch the film to find out.

As in interesting piece of cinema trivia, this film is loosely based on an incident that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend in 1947 in Hollister, California.

The film is an engaging piece of drama. When you watch it there is no doubt that Brando had what it takes to become a super star. Brando shines as Johnny! The whole cast does a great job as well. They are the perfect mixture. As for the story it is moves along fast and at only 79 minutes you don't have time to get bored with it.

As for the blu-ray release, the transfer of this film it is beautiful. It looks and sounds great. As for bonus features, there is none! That is a real shame! I enjoy this early film of Brando, and this film looks great, but some bonus features would have pushed this over the edge to a must own!
