If You're Gone (2019)

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Good Family entertainment is hard to come by in this generation. Films that the whole family can sit down and enjoy together. Well, films that are "Dove Approved" are safe for families to sit done together and watch without fear of all the objectionable material.

One such film is the film "If You're Gone" based on a best selling novel by Brittany Goodwin. Now Mill Creek Entertainment has released this film on DVD so families can sit down and enjoy a night of entertainment together.

The film follows Lillian White who has great plans for the perfect summer. But those plans come to a screeching halt when her boyfriend mysteriously disappears the night of his graduation ceremony.

Law enforcement dismisses the case, claiming Brad is is voluntarily missing. Not believing these reports that Brad would just leave her. Lillian starts out on her own investigation to uncover the truth behind his disappearance.

The deeper she digs into the mystery the more secrets she finds. This causes her to question everything she thought she knew about Brad and learn to have more faith in a higher power.

This is a very good little mystery drama. It is emotional and heart tugging. You really feel for Lillian as she struggles with the fact that her boyfriend is gone and her friends and family tell her almost heartlessly to move on.

Masey McLain does a tremendous job leading this cast in the role of Lillian. Than there is Desiree Ross, Ben Davies and Burgess Jenkins, they are great in supporting roles as well. Brittany Goodwin wrote the original book, but she also wrote the screenplay and directed this film as well! So this is the author's true vision and it is a good one!

The film is presented in 2.35:1 Anamorphic widescreen and in 5.1 Dolby Digital and Stereo. The transfer of this film to DVD was done masterfully. The picture is crisp and the sound is clear. It truly is a beautiful release. There is no bonus features, which is a shame, but a good movie is more than enough for me.

So if you enjoy mystery drama films that the whole family can enjoy. I do recommend this one, "If you're Gone" for your collection. Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com for more details on this release and to pick up your copy from your favorite online DVD provider.
