Reviewed by Jason LockardMVD has started new labels one of which is MVD Classics releasing older films on Blu-ray! Jess Franco is know for making films that are more adult fair. One of those films was Golden Temple Amazons from 1986. Now MVD is giving this film it's Blu-ray release.
The films starts off with a group of Amazonians riding up to a house and immediately murder a family, but they let the young daughter, Liana, live and take her in as one of their own.
Liana grows up and lives free in the jungle with the beautiful jungle animals. She seems to be enjoying her life that is until she discovers the truth of her past! Why did the Amazonians kill her parents? Why did they let her live? Well, you'll have to see the film to find out!
The story is OK, although it is a little thin. While the jungle is the scenery and the animals are amazing, but the Golden Temple and the props are not the best of quality and it kind of shows! Than there is the fact that Jess Franco made the film with the Amazonians topless! Jess was known for this! And I myself find no redeeming quality in this type of film making! But some people do, so I say to each his own!
The film does look great on Blu-ray it is surprisingly clear and clean! The film is presented in 1.66:1 aspect ratio and 2.0 stereo. It looks and sound amazing. The bonus features include trailers of other MVD Classic Collection releases.
