Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are probably best known for their time spent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2026 they are together again and this time joined by the great hall Berry, but this time not as Thor and Hulk. This time they are in a crime thriller from Amazon MGM Studios the film was entitled "Crime 101".
Now of course you can stream Crime 101 on Amazon Prime, but if you are a physical media collector like me. You would rather enjoy the experience of loading up a disc and selecting the menu and watching the film on your home theater. Well, now you can do just that with the new 4K UltraHD release.
Synopsis: When an elusive jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) eyes the score of a lifetime, his path crosses that of a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) who is facing her own crossroads. Convinced he has found a pattern, a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) is closing in, raising the stakes even higher. As the heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all three are faced with life-defining choices—and the realization that there can be no turning back.
Crime 101 is an engaging drama that doesn't focus on all action. The films focuses on character development so that the audience will care about what happens to these people. The film features wonderful pacing and great acting. But one complaint is the film doesn't ties up loose ends before the credits roll.
Crime 101 has been transferred to 4K in 2160p and is presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. There are several audio tracks to choose from. There is an English Dolby Atmos, French Dolby Digital 5.1, English, French and Spanish Descriptive Audio.
The 4k transfer of Crime 101 is tremendously crisp. The gritty detail of Los Angeles is captured perfectly. The colors are vibrant and the skin tones are prefect. As for the audio it is as clear as a bell. Watching this film is 4K is a pleasure, for me a pleasure that streaming can never duplicate.
Now for be the best part of physical media releases is the bonus features. Well, I am disappointed to have to report that there is no bonus features found on this disc. I wished there were an audio commentary, interviews, making of featurettes even a trailer. But sadly, there are none.
Crime 101 is a nice dramatic film and looks great in UltraHD. But the lack of bonus features has the 4k suffering for being a home run release. But it still is a nice release for fans of crime dramas. So if you would like to add Crime 101 to your 4k home video library, head over to Amazon and order your copy today!
Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the 4K of Crime 101 receives....
