Hadestown is currently on a successful 7-year stage run. Because of that success, why not bring this musical to home video so everyone across the world can witness this film? Well, that is just what has been done. Hadestown is now on Blu-ray.
Synopsis: A musical blends the Orpheus and Eurydice myth with the story of Hades and Persephone. The production examines how the struggles of real life impact human attempts to build a perfect world.
Anaïs Mitchell has taken two Greek myths and turned them into a wonderful musical experience. The songs are unforgettable; the performances are great. This Blu-ray makes for a wonderful home video experience.
This production has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track in English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
This Blu-ray transfer is so good that you can see the expression on the actors' faces. The audio is so clear that you can hear every word and enjoy the music as well. Being shot in a theater, you might think that the audio quality would suffer but it is tremendous.
The only downside of this home video release is that this Blu-ray is void of any bonus features. There is no audio commentary, interviews with the cast, nothing. That is a huge disappointment. As these would have made this release so much better.
