A Bluegrass Christmas: DVD Review

There is something about the holidays that makes most sentimental. We like to see people fall in love. Thus the reason for so many Hallmark Christmas movies. And what Hallmark starts playing Christmas movies long before the season starts and even plays them in July.

So other production companies have began to follow suit and mark these often sappy sweet holiday films. The latest being A Bluegrass Christmas. Featuring WWE superstar Chelsea Green. now thanks to the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment you can bring this film home on DVD.

Synopsis: Katie Pendleton’s family horse sanctuary is on the brink of closure when its biggest donor withdraws their support. Katie and Grant Breckenridge, the donor’s son, must convince Katie’s retired grandfather, bluegrass legend Ben Pendleton, to perform a benefit Christmas concert to raise the money in time. But when her reclusive grandfather refuses to help, Katie and Grant must navigate old wounds and growing tensions to save the sanctuary.

This film is more than just the typical sappy holiday romance film. What sets this film apart is the music. Now there are some people that are not fans of country and bluegrass music. So, if that is the case for you, there is a good amount of it in this film. But the music really does enhance the film.

The film stars Country music singer Amanda Jordan (Christmas in Maple Hills), David Pinard (Country Hearts Christmas), Chelsea Green (WWE Raw and Smackdown) and Shaun Johnston (Heartland). These stars really do a tremendous job in their roles. What results is a delightful holiday film you could enjoy every year.

A Bluegrass Christmas has been transferred to DVD in widescreen format and presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is a Stereo 5.1. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The transfer of this film to DVD is a good one. There are no digital artifacts. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the flesh tones are correct. The audio is clear and the music sound nice. There are no hiss, pops or equalization problems.

Now as for bonus features, there not much. That is a bit of a downer. The only bonuses are trailers for other Christmas movies, Christmas at Maple Hills, Christmas with the Knightlys, Christmas in Big Sky Country and Country Roads Christmas. I would like to have seen a making of featurette, interviews or even a trailer. But no none are found here. But that doesn't take away from the entertainment value of this film.

So if you love those sappy holiday films and you enjoy some good country blue grass music. Why not enjoy the best of both world with A Bluegrass Christmas now on DVD. Head over to Deep Discount or Amazon and order your copy today!
