Men of War (1994) MVD Rewind Blu-ray Review

The first time I ever watched Dolph Lundgren was when he played the iconic cartoon character He-Man in Master of the Universe. As a kid seeing He-Man in live action was amazing, even if the film may not have been so great. Then later I watched him as the Russian juggernaut Ivan Drago. Over the years I have seen him in films like The Punisher and Universal Solider

In 1994 Dolph Lundgren starred in the action-drama Men of War. It's hard to believe this film is celebrating its 30th birthday. So, for the 30th anniversary MVD Rewind Collection have released this film on deluxe Blu-ray.

Synopsis: Nick Gunar (Lundgren) is part of a topflight team of ex-Special Forces agents hired by ruthless con men. Their mission: to carry out a secret operation and overtake an exotic island that's loaded with precious jade. But once there, the agents -- led by Lundgren -- defect to defend the islanders against the savage attackers! It's nonstop action as Lundgren and his elite group wage war to defeat the deadly opposition at any cost.

Men of War is a hard-hitting action-packed film with a great screenplay by John Sayles (Lone Star, Eight Men Out). Along with Dolph Lundgren there is amazing performances by Charlotte Lewis (The Golden Child), DB Wong (M. Butterfly), Tommy Lister Jr. (No Holds Barred), Catherine Bell (Tv's Jag), Anthony Denison (TV's Wiseguys), Time Guinee (TV's Stargate SG-1) and Trevor Goddard (Mortal Kombat).

Men of War is a highly underrated action flick. The action is a mile a minute. The movie moves at breakneck speed and there is no real chance to get bored. When you are watching an action film that is exactly what you want.

Men of War has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in
2:35:1 aspect ratio. There are 3 audio options There is English LCPM, An English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and a Spanish language LPCM 2.0. There are also two options for subtitles English and Spanish.

The transfer of this film looks nice. The picture is crisp and clean with no signs of damage that I witnessed. The audio is clean with no hiss or pops. The flesh tones are correct and colors of the jungle pop, making you feel you are right there on the front lines with Dolph.

In addition to a nice copy of this film MVD Rewind Collection loaded up some great bonus features for this release. Take a look at what is included.

I love the on-disc bonus features. The making of featurette is extremely cool, and the dailies are a really nice behind the scenes feature. But something I am always impressed with MVD Rewind releases is the mini posters. I love the mini posters. They are so cool!
