Graham Greene Double Feature {DVD Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

In this history of films many great films have featured Native Americans. Including but not limited to; Dances with Wolves, Geronimo: An American Legend, The Last of the Mohicans and Disney's Squanto A Warrior's tale.

In the 1990's two Native American TV movies took to the air, featuring the amazing Graham Greene. Those films were The Pathfinder and Song od Hiawatha. The first time I ever saw Graham Greene was probably The Green Mile, but I remember vividly his role on The Red Green Show. Graham was in so many great films including, the aforementioned Dances with Wolves, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance and so many more.

Now the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment wanting to make available all forms of TV and Movies to the fans, have brought us these two films on one Double Feature DVD. Let's take a look at this release.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend some time.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

The Pathfinder (1996) Based on the novel by James Fenimore Cooper, this adventure follows a mid-18th-century British scout through the wilderness on a mission to sneak into a French fortress. ***

Song of Hiawatha (1997)
This screen adaptation of the epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow tells the tale of Hiawatha, a Native American brave, and his great love for the beautiful Minnehaha. ***

I found both of these films to be entertaining and engaging features. The acting of Graham Greene (The Shack, Molly's Game) in these two films was amazing. But there is so many great actors also in this double feature including; Litefoot, Michael Rooker, Stacy Keach and many more.

Now for the DVD release. Each of these films are presented in their original full screen and in Dolby Digital 2.0 audio. There is no subtitles. Both films are on one DVD. You might think the quality would suffer but I think they still look as good as they can.

The transfers, these are typical TV movies. There not the most pristine copies. In the 90's TV Movies were produced cheaply for fast turnaround and so they were not shot in HD and so they probably look as good as they are going to. There is some mild grain, but these are more than good enough for me. I just enjoy having them in my collection. So that is a huge win for me.

So if your a fan of western films or Graham Greene! This double feature is a must add to your collection. Head over to MillCreekEnt.com or Amazon.com and order your copy today!
