Maid in Manhattan {Blu-ray/DVD Review}

Jennifer Lopez began her career as a fly girl on the show "In Living Color".  She would go on to have a lucrative musical career and then she would transition to movies.

JLo has been doing big things lately. Many feel she should have gotten recognition from the Academy for her film Hustlers. She will also be a featured performer during the Super Bowl half-time show on Feb 2, 2020.

Last year Mill Creek Entertainment released a Blu-ray DVD combo of an early JLo film Anaconda. Read our review of that release here. But now it's time for another JLo Blu-ray. This time 2002's Maid in Manhattan. This film has been out of print on Blu-ray for a while so Mill Creek Entertainment comes to JLo fans rescue.

Maid in Manhattan follows the life of Marisa Ventura (Lopez), a single mother born and bred in the boroughs of New York City. She is a hardworking mom, doing what she has to do to provide for herself and her child. She works at her job as a maid in a first-class Manhattan hotel.

One fine day Marisa meets Christopher Marshall an heir to a political dynasty. He believes she is a guest at the hotel. The finger of fate puts them together for an unforgettable night. But when the truth is finally revealed will they see they are just too different or will love ultimately win out? You'll have to see the film to find out.

The story is a typical romantic comedy, nothing overly out of the ordinary here. While this film may not be JLo's greatest, it's has a lot of charm. Her sweet demeanor is on full display. The supporting cast is awesome as well, including; Natasha Richardson, Bob Hoskins, Stanley Tucci, Tyler Posey, and Ralph Fiennes.

Now for this Blu-ray/DVD combo set. The film is presented in widescreen format and in 2.40:1 aspect ratio, with 5.1 audio and English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The transfer of this movie on Blu-ray and DVD does look and sound stunning. As for bonus features. There are none sadly. But to have a JLo film on Blu-ray is enough for most fans.

So if you're a hopeless romantic, a fan of Jenifer Lopez or both you'll want to add Maid in Manhattan to your collection. Head over to MillCreekEnt.com or Amazon.com today.
