Duplicity (2009) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Julia Roberts is an icon of the cinema! She has been in many great films over her illustrious career. Including, Pretty Woman, Erin Brockovich, Steel Magnolias and many more too numerous to count. Well, in 2009 Julia Roberts joined Clive Owen in the film Duplicity.

Now the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment are giving us Julia Roberts fans a chance to own this film on HD Blu-ray. Let's tale a look at this bluray release.

CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Roberts) and MI6 agent Ray Koval (Owen) have left the world of government intelligence all for the opportunity to cash in on the profitable cold war raging between two rival corporations. Their mission? Secure the formula for a product that will bring a fortune to the company that patents it first. As the stakes  get higher, the mystery deepens and the two begin to see a growing attraction to each other, as they each try to stay one step ahead of the other.

Duplicity is an entertaining film, but there is a lot of complexity to the story. So it can be very hard to keep up with at times. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen has a undeniable chemistry together. Julia Roberts was nominated for as Golden Globe for her role in this film.

Tony Gilroy wrote and directed this film and you can see his brillance of shine in this film. The same brillance that was seen in films such as the Jason Bourne film franchise, Micheal Clayton, Doloris Claibourne, The Devil's Advocate and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

As for the Blu-ray release. The film has been transfered in it's original widescreen format in 1080p and aspect ratio 2.40:1 and the audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Surround sound. There is also English Subtitles for the hearing impaired. As a special bonus feature we get the film trailer, very cool!

I have to say this transfer looks and sounds stunning! And while the film may not be Julia Roberts greatest. It's a good escape film to get away from the cares of everyday life. And sometimes that 's just what you need.

So if you're a fan of Julia Roberts I suggest you add this Blu-ray to your collection!
