In the early 1980s kids first saw the amazing toy line of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. Soon would follow the cartoon series, the movie and reboot series.
Now that it seems more likely than ever that a new He-Man movie is on the way. It's the perfect time to look at the history of this icon.
Who as a kid of the 80s didn't dream of speaking the icon words, "By the Power of Greyskull... I Have the Power!"Randall Lobb and Robert McCallum were no doubt like most of us! They bring their love for these characters history to this film.
The Documentary tracks the history of He-Man from the humble beginnings to the iconic toys. How they were made on a small budget. They delve into the making of the tv series and even Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella talk about the movie. We get to hear why we didn't see the characters wer loved from the series in the movies. Fans and historians talks about the series and even into the rebooted series.
I have to say that "Power of Grayskull" is a fascinating documentary. Filled with great information. The film ran 95 minutes and it didn't even seem half that time. The time literaly flies by when you watch this documentary. The colors are eye popping and the animation used in this documentary stellar.
High Octane has released a pretty impressive looking DVD. The transfer of this film is in it's orginal widescreen format in 1.85:1 aspect ratio There is audio options for both 2.0 Stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital. There is also English subtitles for the hearing impaired, very cool feature. The only downside in this DVD is there is no bonus features. I am proud to display this in my collection anyway.
If you are a fan of He-Man, than ‘Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ is a must-watch. You probably know a lot about the franchise, but this documentary is full of cool stuff and your bound to hear something you didn't know!
I highly suggest adding this DVD to your He-Man collection. In my opinion no collection is complete without it! Head over to Amazon.com and pick up your copy today.
