Jackie Chan Adventures: The Demon Portals Saga {DVD Review}

I have been expanding my film watching horizons. Opening my mind to different genre of films. One action star I have learned to really enjoy is Jackie Chan. Jackie is an action star but he has a real comedic timing that makes his films so much fun to watch!

Now I have heard of the Jackie Chan adventures cartoon series, but I never watched it before! So when the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment release Jackie Chan Adventures The Demon Portal saga. You know I had to check it out.

The Demon Portals Saga is actually the second season of this cartoon series. But don't worry it's a saga unto itself so it's not necessary to know what went on in the first season to enjoy this story arc.


This series follows Jackie Chan, who teams up with his 11 year old niece Jade for an anime adventure. They travel the world trying to locate 12 magical talismans, which gives the holder special powers.

But they are not the only ones searching for these talismans. Thee organization The Date Hand wants them too. Who will retrieve the mystical talisman first? You'll have to watch to find out.

This series ran for 5 seasons on the WB and Cartoon Network. Jackie Chan voices his character in this series. I have to say the anime style animation is very well done. The stories are put together well and they are not to hard to follow even for the little ones. No wonder this series received 3 Emmy® Nominations.

The series is presented in it's original full screen 1:33.1 aspect ratio. There are 13 episodes collected on each disc. Now some would say, "that is too many episodes on one disc!" But I have to say I think the audio and video quality of the episodes are just film one these discs! I have zero complaints.

The Demon Portals Saga is so good of a animated series it deserves a place right along side my Jackie Chan movie DVDs. I think if you give this series a chance you will be loving the Jackie Chan animated action as well!
