It was reported by TMZ yesterday that Jan Michael Vincent had passed away about a month ago. An amazing actor that battled demons during his life.
Vincent was born in Denver, Colorado on July 15, 1945. He attended school in Hanford, California graduating in 1963. Vincent enrolled in Ventura College
for three years. He has said, "I would have completed college, but the
registration clerk literally shut the window in his face for the lunch
hour and Vincent instead took his $200 and went to Mexico to party." This rebellious feeling would be the trend of his life.
During his life Vincent battled alcoholism and drug use. He had many run-ins with the law as well, being arrested in 1977, 1978 and 1979 for possession of cocaine
and arrested in 1984 and 1985 for two bar brawls. He also received a felony assault charge in 1986, but was
acquitted.
In 1988 he was arrested for drunk driving but avoided jail by entering
rehab. In 2000 a $374,000 default judgment was made against him
after his former girlfriend alleged he had physically assaulted her
after their breakup and caused her to miscarry their child.
During the 1990s, he was involved in three severe automobile
collisions. One resulting in three broken vertebrae in his neck and a permanent injury to his vocal cords from an emergency
medical procedure, leaving him with a permanently raspy voice.
It is sad to see a man with such talent to be prisoner of alcohol and drugs. Who's to know, he could of been a huge star if it wasn't for the fact of these demons. Still he was amazing though. He starred in "White Line Fever" on the 9 Lives Movie Collection and starred as Stringfellow Hawke in Airwolf TV Series.
